About Us

Welcome to PCables AI Interconnects

At PCables AI Interconnects, we believe that the future of artificial intelligence isn’t just about algorithms and models—it’s about the physical connections that make them work. Whether you’re building a GPU cluster for research, deploying enterprise AI, or scaling high-performance computing, the right cables and network infrastructure can make or break your results.

What We Do

Our mission is to demystify the complex world of AI infrastructure cabling. We provide clear, practical, and expert-guided resources to help engineers, data center teams, and AI developers choose the right interconnect solutions—so you can focus on innovation, not compatibility headaches.

Topics We Cover

We dive deep into the physical layer of AI systems, covering:

  • InfiniBand and Ethernet architectures for low-latency AI workloads
  • NVLink and NVSwitch configurations for multi-GPU systems
  • Fiber optic vs. copper cabling trade-offs in data centers
  • Connector standards: QSFP-DD, OSFP, SFP+, and beyond
  • Topology design: fat trees, dragonfly, and mesh networks
  • BOM checklists, compatibility matrices, and cabling best practices
  • Bandwidth, latency, and signal integrity calculators
  • Troubleshooting common physical layer failures

About the Creator

I’m Phillip Ramos, an infrastructure engineer with over 15 years of experience designing high-performance computing systems for AI and HPC environments. I’ve worked in national labs, cloud providers, and enterprise AI startups—and I’ve seen too many projects delayed because someone picked the wrong cable or misunderstood a connector spec. That’s why I started PCables AI Interconnects: to create the resource I wish I’d had.

Why This Website Exists

AI hardware evolves fast, but documentation lags. Vendor datasheets are technical, fragmented, and often biased. There’s no neutral, comprehensive guide that compares InfiniBand EDR vs. HDR, explains when to use active vs. passive DACs, or shows real-world latency benchmarks across topologies. We fill that gap—without marketing fluff, without vendor lock-in, just clear, tested facts.

Our Values and Approach

We believe in transparency, accuracy, and practicality. Every guide is written by someone who’s stood in a data center at 2 a.m. troubleshooting a failed link. We test configurations ourselves, update content regularly, and never accept paid promotions that compromise our integrity. Our goal isn’t to sell cables—we’re here to help you choose the right ones.
